Several months ago, I read a story about two adult brothers who were rock climbing. One of them was suffering from PTSD. They were arguing violently as they climbed. And then they came to a clearing where the view was simply AWESOME. They stopped arguing. Studies have shown that the experience of seeing or hearing or touching something that brings a sense of awe to the person can have both an emotional and physical positive impact.
We all need to see with new eyes. We will meet at the city park, talk about "seeing with new eyes," leaving phones and I-pads turned off, and take a walk as individuals....not in pairs or larger groups...so we can each experience what is to be seen and heard, be it a budding leaf, a bird song, the perfume of a blossoming flower, etc. We will walk toward the RutabagA Studio and Art Gallery and create as a result of our moment(s) of AWE. Supplies will be furnished in many mediums, and we can, hopefully, leave with a morning that opened our eyes and ears to life around us.
The cost is $5.00. Call 309-944-4994 to register.
